Biography
Matty was 4 months old when she became ill. Prior to that age she was
absolutely healthy. She returned from a visit with her father and had a fever.
Two days later she had a rash and a series of sores on the back of her head. On
April 27th 2010 she had a gran-mal seizure and started having problems breathing
after much complication she was tansferred 2 hours away to a childrens hospital
ICU unit. While in ICU she was diagnosed with herpes encephalitis (the std form)
and it was realized she had been abused by her father who had been treated for
the same std two weeks prior to her illness. She suffered severe brain damage on
the left side which lead to infantile spasms (baby seizures) Then in 2011 she
went up top 80-100 seizures a day, loss the use of her right side (some has been
regained) missed milestones, and had several hearing and seeing issues. She was
diagnosed with Lennox gastaut syndrome March 2011. There is no cure for LGS. It
is a traumatic for of epileps
y that affects children. It has a poor prognosis and progresses. We are very
thankful for this oppourtunity. May God bless you all.

We received Matty's amazing quilt last week and are very thankful. It matches her room so well and she already loves it. At this very moment she is cuddled on the couch sleeping wrapped up in her warm new quilt. I really do love the quilt. I love how each block has a name and a location. My son and I make up stories about the family's and tell them to Matty. She loves to hear stories :) When she goes to surgery December 11Th I will feel a little better knowing she will be wrapped in a quilt of love....again I want to say THANK YOU!!!!!
