Biography
Genesis was born on March 27th, 2006. Up until his dianosis on July 1, 2011 he has been a very healthy and active child. He loves playing with his siblings, cousins and friends. He can play with superheroes all day long! Since the age of two he has attended a Chinese Immersion Pre-school. He has amazed me with how he has learned the language and the Chinese characters.
In June he told me his ear was hurting at times. I took him to Urgent Care and they told me he had a medium ear infection and gave him antibiotics. His speech started to change a few days later and the DR said that this can happen with ear infections and should go away in 3 weeks. Ten days later he started to tell me he had double vision. I made an eye appt for him thinking it was his eye sight. Three days later his eye started to cross and I brought him into a Child's Ophthamologist. She diagnosed him with 6th Nerve Palsey which can happen after an ear infection. But to discount everything else she ordered an MRI. Two days later he had an MRI and a tumor was found in his head. It is pressing on his cranial nerve, surrounding his carotid artery and encroaching on his brain. A CT scan performed the next day showed that it was also in his lungs. A few days later a lung biopsy was done and he was diagnosed with Stage IV Rhabdomyosarcoma.
He has begun Radiation for his head which will last 5 1/2 weeks and undergo 54 weeks of Agressive Chemotherapy. He will also possibly need Radiation to his lungs. He currently has 6 more days of Radiation and 49 more weeks of Chemotherapy to go. He will have a G-tube inserted next week because his mouth has been burned from the Radiation and it's difficult for him to eat. So far, he has handled things in an amazing way. He worries at times about getting his port accessed but other than that he is enjoying the same things he enjoyed before. He no longer attends pre-school but will be starting Kindergarten Sept 8th at a Chinese Immersion Elementary. It will be a long and difficult year but we are trusting in God's mercy and grace to cover us as we move forward.

I just want to let you know we received Genesis's quilt and absolutely love it!
Genesis was so excited when he saw what was on the quilt. Especially special
because we are dealing with health issues with our beloved cat.

meaning for us.
