Welcome Friends!
Jessi G.
Pennsylvania
Biography

Jessi is a twin. They were born six weeks early with the doctors
telling us that Jessi would only live for 24 hours at the most. At 7 days old
she had a shunt put in her skull to drain the fluid from her brain. The next
two  years were a fight to keep her alive. She had open heart surgery at 6 months as
she was born with a complete AV canal defect and a cleft mitral valve. After
that surgery at around 8 1/3 mths Jessi went into Congestive Heart Failure and
was flown by helicopter to Hershey Medical Center where she was in a medically
induced coma for 3 mths until she was strong enough to have her second heart
surgery. Things went better after that with the exception of a Nissan Tuck and
G-tube placement. She attended a special class at school and was a happy little
girl. She uses a wheelchair and cannot talk although we have learned to read
her expressions and understand what it is she wants. Then in 2005 Jessi had a
seizure and then a CVA (stroke). She lost her abi
lity to move and was in the rehab center of Hershey for 10 weeks. In 2007 Jessi
had a bovine valve replacement for her Mitral valve. Since then things were
once again going well until Early 2011 when she would cry when we would try to move
her etc. She stopped scooting on her bottom and didn't want to get out of bed.
We ended up back at Hershey and found out she had a compression spinal
fracture..after 3 months of pain and waiting for it to heal more test were run
and we got the diagnosis of the High Risk Pre B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
That was July 29, 2011. Since then we have been in the Hershey area as she has
been in the hospital most of the time. We recently rented a trailer and have
been blessed to have her home for 3 weeks.. minus 3 days due to an infection.
They are doing 50% of the matience phase of chemotherapy as in Nov. we almost
>lost her due to the toll the regular chemo was having on her. She was in the
ICU/IMCU for 2 1/2 weeks. Acute Respitory Failure and
Acute Renal Failure. Again she pulled through and just yesterday did some
scooting on her bottom for the first time in a year. :)  She is a miracle to us
and has blessed our lives as well as the lives of many others who have prayed
with us and shared our tears and joys.
Thank you for considering Jessi for a quilt. Not only would it be a blessing
for her now..but a memory for us later as well.
God Bless You for what you do.
