Biography

Chris was born on August 19th, 1998. He was very healthy at almost 10 lbs. He
had a very uneventful childhood until he was almost 2 and we noticed he wasn't
saying anything. His official diagnosis was sensory defensiveness disorder. It
has some characteristics of autism or Aspergers. He has trouble "reading
peoples faces" to know if they are serious/joking. Excessive
touching/poking/loud noises send his anxiety over the edge. In seventh grade, he
started complaining of a pain down his arm. He had trouble sleeping, so his
mother took him to the doctor. She found a lump under his left arm. After two
months of follow-ups, ultrasounds, antibiotics and the bump not improving she
ran more tests. Blood work indicated his iron was off. She referred us to a
hematologist. Immediately the hematologist/oncologist was more concerned with
the lymph node under the arm pit. Two weeks of biopsy, ct/pet scans and x-rays
indicated stage IV Hodgkins lymphoma.  After treatment, things were cal
m for a short while. Two days after his 14th birthday, routine scans showed a
relapse. Treatment this time around (last time was all outpatient) is a week
inpatient every 3 weeks. After 2-4 cycles he will go to a different hospital for
a minimum of 30 days intense chemo and stem cell treatment.

PS since the writing of this Chris has completed all of those chemo treatment and had his transplant.  He was released to home recovery 15 days after the procedure and is glad to be home
