Biography
Alaria was born at 28 weeks. She was 3 pounds 5 ounces. She was on a
ventilator soon after she was born. She was having seizures so they ran some
tests and found she had a Grade III Brain Bleed caused from a stroke she had in
utero. Not long after they found she had developed hydrocephalus. They told us
she had a 50% chance of living and if she did she would be in a wheel chair and
would have severe cerebral palsy. At two months she received a reservoir in her
brain so they could drain the excess fluid on her brain until she was stable
enough to receive a shunt. At three months old she received her shunt and a week
later we got to bring her home. She spent a little over three months in the
nicu. This past September she received her first shunt revision because her
shunt was malfunctioning and was not draining properly. She spent two days in
the hospital recovering from the surgery and was doing very well. We found out
that now her shunt is over draing and she will
have to have a new shunt and will be fitted with a programmable shiny this time
and this will be done within weeks from writing this. Alaria is doing very well
otherwise she does have moderate cerebral palsy and some learning difficulties
but she is our miracle and has brought such joy to our life. Even though these
brain surgeries are great possibility for the rest of her life she is a warrior
and takes it with a smile and sweet personality and doesn't let it get her down.

Once there click on the link "database" on the right to view the children and their patterns. Once you find a pattern that you want to stitch and have confirmed it is not already being stitched you may return to the sign up form, fill it in and submit it.
