Biography

Aiyanna Gabrielle Rodriguez was born on June 7, 2003.  She was a
natural birth, weight 8.2 pounds, 19.25 in height, and was a full term baby.  No
problems or any health conditions at birth. She started school at the age of 3
and went to Child Family Center in Millville NJ.  Aiyanna has an older brother
named Carlos Raziel Rodriguez, born on December 15, 2001.  He is going to be 11.
Family moved from Millville NJ to Mays Landing NJ on November 26th, 2009.  She
and her brother both attends George Hess Elementary School in the Hamilton
Township district.

On June 13th, 2011, Aiyanna lost her great grandfather on her maternal side.
This year, beginning July 6th, Aiyanna felt ill without any signs such as
coughing, runny nose, or fever.  She suddenly felt fatigue, aches and pains all
over her body.  She was taken to Shore Memorial Hospital on July 10th, 2012 and
was admitted for 3 days.  She was discharged on July 12th, with a fever and
diagnosed with a virus or so the doctors thought, yet they had suspected cancer.
As it turns out, her condition conditions continued and had not gotten better as
a few weeks went by. Finally, her pediatrician had instructed us to take her to
DearChildren's Hospital of Philadelphia in Philadelphia PA. She was admitted on July
25th, 2012. July 26th, the doctor's informed us that they have found "abnormal
blood cells" have developed, but at this point, they could not be definitive to
prove that it is in fact cancer.  To prove this, a bone marrow had to be done.
On July 27th, 8:00AM in the morning, Ai
yanna was taken to have the bone marrow done.  The doctor's did not speak to us
until 4PM that afternoon when they told us the results.  As a parent, it was
very devastating to learn as for her to learn about her condition, but as a
mother, being her mother, I knew that she can be cured.  I know that my daughter
is a strong willed little girl and very competitive so if she is challenged, she
will come through and be victorious.  She understands it is a long journey.  The
hardest part of the procedures were the blood drawing and iv's through her arms,
but when the doctor's surgically placed her medical port into her chest, she was
fine.  She is filled with laughter, and life.  Her journey began with a month of
induction stage, then consolidation which consist of 4 weeks of spinal taps with
methotrexate, then interim maintainance block which is 8 weeks 1 spinal taps
with mehtotrexate, methotrexate and vincristine through her port, then delayed
intensifications which will be 8
weeks, and another interim maintanance of 8 weeks, finally the maintainance
stage which will be 2 years of monthly chemo treatment.
